Listening in telc Deutsch B2: the three parts of Hörverstehen
Listening (Hörverstehen) in telc Deutsch B2, the German exam: three parts, 20 true-or-false tasks, 75 of 300 points, about 20 minutes. Here is what you hear, how often, and how to prepare.
The three parts
| Part | What you hear | How often | Points |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | a news broadcast | once | 25 |
| 2 | a radio interview | once | 25 |
| 3 | five short announcements | once | 25 |
At B2 you hear every text only once — the interview with its ten tasks too. Decide while you listen, not afterwards.
How the listening runs
Before each part you read the statements: 30 seconds before part 1, one minute before part 2. For each statement you decide true or false and mark „+“ or „–“ on the answer sheet. The recording runs without a break. In parts 1 and 3 each task is worth 5 points, in part 2 2.5 each.
How often each text plays at B1 and B2, and what that means for practice: How many times do you hear each text?
Tips
- Use the reading time: in each statement, underline the word that matters — a time, a place, a number, an „only“ or a „not“.
- A statement can be false over one detail: a different day, a different person.
- Missed a bit? Mark an answer anyway and listen for the next statement — the recording does not wait.
- Practise with recordings that run as in the exam: no pause button, with the reading time before.
