telc Deutsch B1 and B2 exam dates: registration, deadlines, results
telc Deutsch B1 and B2, the German exams, have no central calendar: every telc exam centre sets its own dates, registration deadline and fee. Here is how to find a date, how early to register and how long the result takes.
Who sets the exam dates?
The exam centre. telc says it has over 3,000 centres worldwide, many of them Volkshochschulen. They hold exams regularly and extra ones on request. Not every centre offers every exam. You find them with the search on telc.net.
What to ask the centre
- When is the next date for telc Deutsch B1 or B2 — and when does registration close?
- What does the exam cost, and by when do you pay?
- Until when can you cancel for free, and what does it cost after that?
- Are the written and oral exams on the same day? If not, they are at most 7 days apart.
- On paper or digital? telc Deutsch B1 is offered digital, hybrid and on paper.
How early do you have to register?
By your centre's registration deadline at the latest. telc requires the centre to register the exam 14 days before the date — so your deadline comes earlier. One example: at VHS Rhein-Sieg registration closes 29 days before the exam (deadline Friday 2 January 2026, exam Saturday 31 January 2026). Until then you can cancel there for free; after it the full fee is due, or 29 € plus 5 € with proof of illness, a move or work duties. See telc's FAQ.
What does the exam cost?
Each centre sets its own fee; telc names no figure. At VHS Rhein-Sieg telc Deutsch B1 costs €185 (with exam training) and B2 €175, with no reductions. Our practice tests: one per level free, all of them €39 for 90 days.
When does the result come?
After 4 to 6 weeks, depending on how many exams telc is marking. So in the VHS Rhein-Sieg example, about 8 to 10 weeks pass from the registration deadline to the result:
- 1
Registration closes: 29 days before the exam (VHS Rhein-Sieg)
- 2
Payment: up to 3 weeks before the exam (VHS Rhein-Sieg)
- 3
Exam: written and oral, at most 7 days apart
- 4
Result: 4 to 6 weeks after the exam
You pass with 60 % in the written and in the oral part.
